This is a contribution by Chris. Chris is at his early 30’s and can help you understand how to lose weight in a healthy, safe and natural manner.

It is a known fact that the metabolism decreases as you get older. However, there are some people who don’t seem to be affected by such natural phenomenon. When asked regarding their secret in maintaining a fast metabolism even at later age, the answer can be traced back on how they lost and maintained their weight back in their 20’s. People in the range of 20 to 30 are lucky because the metabolism is at peak during these years. This makes it easier to lose and maintain weight and best of all; the metabolism rate can be carried out through your later years if you keep the healthy attitude and lifestyle. For that reason, it is very important to start weight management early.

Tip #1 Pick what you eat

Though metabolism is on its peak, you could still gain weight if you do not watch what you eat. Learning to eat nutritious and low-calorie foods is the best way to lose weight. You may follow the food pyramid guide as your reference on what are the foods you should eat more and which foods you should avoid.

Tip #2 Cut down the alcohol

Most people in their 20’s are earning money for themselves. Spending your hard earned money on beer and other alcoholic beverages will not only give you a hangover but will give you hundreds of calories as well. Do you know that every gram of alcohol is equivalent to 7 calories? That means, every bottle of regular beer could give you 150 calories; multiply that to the number of bottles you consume and expect a beer belly soon.

Tip #3 Get on the extreme

You are on the top of your game if you are around 20 to 30 years old. Take advantage of this by engaging in activities that require a great amount of strength, agility, and endurance because you might not be able to do this in your later years. Try extreme sports like waterboarding, cross country skiing, and rock climbing. These activities are great calorie burners and could give you a unique sense of fulfillment.

Tip #4 Go the extra mile

If you are still in college, participate in extra curricular activities like the basketball team or the cheerleader’s squad. On the other hand, if you are already working, volunteer to do extra errands for your co-workers. By doing so, you’ll get extra credits after graduation or establish a good working relationship with your co-workers while doing yourself the favor of losing weight. This is indeed a Win-Win solution.

Tip #5 Be a leader

Young adults are great leaders because their minds are mature enough to think for a group but still fresh enough to come up with new ideas. This means, use your gift to lead a group of friends, classmates, or co-workers to lose weight with you. Having someone as a weight loss buddy is effective, but having a group of people to become your ‘weight loss buddy’ could produce results which are twice as better. Losing weight at this young age is easier, thus you need to make the most out of it by establishing a healthier and leaner physique before you reach the age when weight loss would seem impossible. You are young, so go out and explore the world!
