As we all know, college can be stressful. Between staying up all night to study for tomorrow’s big exam, trying to fit in with our roommates and trying to graduate on time, we can easily get overwhelmed.

Getting stressed out and feeling overwhelmed is especially common during the last year of college. You want to make sure you have all your credits to graduate on time, you’re finally realizing you’re about to receive your degree, and are able to move on with our life. That is a scary, sad and happy feeling all in one. You’ll actually have to grow up, work a job and leave the partying behind once and for all.

Although your last year of college can be stressful, you must make the best of it and leave the stress behind. For some advice on successfully finishing on time and for a happy last year, here are some tips you may want to consider.

Have a plan: As a college student, you must have some sort of plan. You should know when you’ll be graduating, which classes are left for you to take and you must know how many more credits you need to be able to graduate. Having a plan and goal is important. This will keep you on track and won’t confuse you on what’s left to finish.

Set your priorities: Get your priorities straight. It’s hard to turn down parties to stay up late and do homework, but if that’s what you need to do to graduate on time and to finish with a good GPA, you must do it. Priorities are very important in college and can make the difference of graduating or failing.

Get your rest: College students these days do not get enough rest. Instead of hanging out with friends or coming home for the weekend, try just relaxing, and getting sleep. A good night’s rest helps you be much more efficient during the day. So try to aim for a good 8+ hours each day. This will keep you healthy, sick less often and feeling better and more energized throughout the day.

Healthy lifestyle: Have a healthy lifestyle during college. Avoid eating only junk food and having alcoholic beverages every night. A healthy lifestyle and healthy body all contribute into you being successful and great at school. Aim to get your fruits and vegetables, your 30 minutes of exercise in and a good night’s rest to be the best you can be throughout the day.

Get excited: Get excited to graduate! Getting your degree and wearing your hat should be enough motivation for you to graduate on time and with good grades. It can be sad to think about moving on to bigger and better things, along with leaving your lifestyle and friends behind, but it’s all a part of growing up.

Your last year has finally come. This is a time you’ve been waiting forever for and a time you’ve worked so hard for.  So give yourself a pat on the back and feel great about all the progress you’ve made over the years.
